What happens to my LPA if I die?
When you die, your LPA will automatically end, and your attorneys will no longer manage your affairs. Instead, your executors or personal representatives dealing with your estate will look after your affairs.
Your executors should send your original LPAs and any certified copies to the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), together with a copy of your death certificate to inform them that you have passed away. The OPG will then formally cancel your LPAs and return the cancelled documents to your executors. There is no cost for this service.
